Membership

"Nothing but heaven, or rather Christ in heaven itself, will content the child of God. In the meantime, his presence in the congregation makes their souls, as it were, heaven."

Richard Sibbes

"The church is the nursery for God’s weak children, where they are nourished and grow strong. It is the fold for Christ’s sheep; the home for Christ’s family."

Charles Spurgeon

Become a Member of Our Local Church

Church membership is more than a mere formality. It's a joyful commitment to belong, grow, and walk together in Christ.

We believe that God desires every Christian to live out their faith in a meaningful relationship with a local church, where they are known, cared for, and encouraged in the Gospel.

Church membership is a commitment to gather regularly, to sit under the preaching of Scripture, to pray, to sing, and to pursue holiness together. It’s also a promise to lovingly care for one another. We don't make it to Heaven alone.

At UBC, we aspire to be a spiritual family where Christ is central, His Word is treasured, and His people are deeply loved. If you are considering membership, we would love to walk with you in our membership process.

A Five-Step Journey

Membership Matters

Membership Matters is a four-week Equipping Class for all prospective members of UBC.  Our elders teach through our church’s Statement of Faith (what we believe), our Church Covenant (how we commit ourselves to one another), and our philosophy of ministry. A prospective member must complete these four classes to pursue membership at UBC.

Member Profile

After completing the Membership Matters class, you can fill out a member profile, and that will be assigned to an elder for a member interview. You can fill out the Member Profile below.

Membership Interview

An elder will reach out to schedule a membership interview with you. This is an informal meeting to discuss the member profile and allows our pastors to get to know you. In the meeting, you will talk about your story, God's grace in your life, the Gospel, and how God is growing you in the faith. At the end, you will be asked to sign UBC’s Statement of Faith and Church Covenant.

Elder Recommendation

At a regularly scheduled elders' meeting, the elder who conducted the interview will review your member's profile and testimony with the other elders. Upon receiving the elders' approval, the elders will present you to the congregation for a vote.

Congregational Affirmation

At the next members' meeting, the congregation hears the elder recount parts of your testimony. Then, our church votes to receive you into membership.
