Children’s Ministry (Newborn to 4th Grade)

We offer children's ministry programs that come alongside parents with a loving, safe, Word-centered environment.

Children are a wonderful gift from God. Parenting is one of the highest vocations for God's people. Our Children's Ministry is here to support and encourage you as you teach your children to know and love the Lord. While parents are the primary disciple-makers of their children, we want to assist you as you teach them about God's Word. Our Children's Ministry is a loving and safe environment in which your children can learn the truths of God's Word.

We hope to reinforce what’s taught at home, point them to the gospel, and partner with you as you disciple them in God’s Word. Our prayer is that every child sees a vibrant, genuine faith in the people around them and comes to know the love of Christ for them.

Nursery to 4th Grade

Children’s Ministry at UBC

It is never too early to begin instilling the truth of the gospel in children. From the smallest of infants to the most energetic of preschoolers, we want to teach them about who God says He is in His Word and tell them that God made them for His glory!

Sunday School
9:00 am-10:15 am

Children are divided into age-based classes and learn about our big God from the Old and New Testaments using the Truth78 curriculum (formerly Children’s Desiring God).

  • Nursery: A Sure Foundation
  • Preschool: He Has Spoken by His Son and He Established a Testimony

Corporate Worship Service
10:30 am-12:00 pm

During our morning worship service, we provide childcare for children from birth through preschool with activities, Bible stories and lessons, Scripture memory, songs, crafts, snacks, and recreation.
These classes are divided by grade and aim to make much of God and the gospel of Jesus Christ. We want to capitalize on these formative years as children begin to ask personal questions about God and the gospel.

Sunday School
9:00 am-10:15 am

Classes are divided by grade and walk through Truth78 curriculum. During this time, children have the opportunity to learn about God's wonderful character through Bible lessons, music, Scripture memory, crafts, and dialogue with teachers. We also provide children with a snack and a time of games.

  • Kindergarten: Jesus, What a Savior!
  • First Grade: The ABCs of God
  • Second Grade: Faithful to All His Promises
  • Third Grade: In the Beginning . . . Jesus
  • Fourth Grade: How Majestic Is Your Name

Corporate Worship Service
10:30 am-12:00 pm

All elementary children are invited to join their families for our corporate worship service in the Main Hall. Worship sheets to help your child follow along in the service are available for them every Sunday morning at ConnectingPoint.

Elementary children are also invited to join the church body during our Sunday Evening Services.

At UBC, we believe every child is uniquely created by God in his image. We want every child to delight in Jesus Christ and have the opportunity to worship Him in a caring and safe environment. Our goal is to welcome all children with special needs, showing them Jesus, including them in classes and activities with their peers, and creating a space where they experience belonging and growth in relationships.

If you are visiting UBC for the first time with a child who has special needs or if you have any questions or concerns, please contact our Children’s Ministry Coordinator, Leah Smith, or our Childcare Coordinator, Tammy Lineberger.

Encouraging Families to Grow in Worship Together

While we offer childcare in both our morning and evening services, parents are invited to bring their children with them in the service. It’s our joy to have children of all ages worship with us.

For more on the value of having your children with you in the worship service, and for ways you can help your children engage in the service, download a copy of A Parent’s Guide to Parenting in the Pew @ UBC.
