For week of March 7th, 2010.
2 Chronicles 7:14
If my people, which are called by my name shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. [GOD ALWAYS keeps His promises!]
—Prayer Praises—
Moses McCollum (eight years old)—”After two and one-half years, the Guatemalan government has given final approval of our adoption of Moses! We should bring him home in 3-4 weeks. We appreciate the prayer and encouragement during this long wait.” —Kevin & Michelle McCollum
Elizabeth (Beth) and Tabitha (Abbi) Rownak—were born February 23rd in Bentonville. “These are the first Rownak girls born since 1920, so you can imagine how excited we are to have two girls who are likely identical twins.” —Judy and John Rownaks (grandparents)
Morgan Elizabeth Trantham—was born a week ago Saturday and went home Sunday. She is 7 lbs 5 oz and 19.25 inches long. “Thank God that Morgan is healthy and finally here!” —Elizabeth and Micah Hale (grandparents)
—Prayer Requests—
Delores Sanders (Pam Wolfenbarger’s first cousin who is like a second mother to Pam)—is in the Medical Intensive Care Unit at Wesley Hospital in Wichita, KS. She has been vomiting blood. After many tests, her doctor still doesn’t know why. Please pray for wisdom for the doctors, and healing. “More importantly though, neither she or her husband, Herb, are believers. So, please join me in asking our Heavenly Father to use this trial in their lives to draw them to our Lord Jesus. They have been married over 45 years, and have two adult children, four grandchildren, and one great-grandson, none of whom are believers. They are a very close knit family and I know if the Lord ever gets one of their hearts, the rest of the family would really stop and think! They are a great family, they just need the Lord!!! I’ve been sharing my faith with them for years, seeds have been sown, but they have never gone through anything like this. Thank you for your prayers.” —Pam
Update on Kevin Worley’s sister, Pam Carson in Shrevport, LA. Pam completed six months of radiation and chemo in February and was scheduled this past Monday, March 1st, for a follow-up MRI to see if the spinal tumor was affected. The report was received yesterday that there was no improvement in the tumor. She will now need to have blood platelets treatment in March and then begin a new 3-month regimen of chemo and radiation in April. This was very discouraging, heart-breaking news after she had suffered through such severe side effects of the chemo for the past six months. Please pray for her faith and trust in God to remain strong and for her spirit and body to be strengthened in these next few weeks before the treatments begin again. Please pray for wisdom for Kevin and the words to speak encouragement for her soul and that family members will be brought to salvation through this situation.
Jay Lineberger—is doing better after having serious complications with his eyes, resulting from diabetes. Please continue to pray for him.
Phil Tugwell was discharged March 4 (Thursday) after having an 80% blockage in one of his arteries. A stent placement was done last Wednesday. Please pray for a quick recovery. He had open heart surgery about ten years ago.
Boyd Burch (Alan’s brother)—has walking pneumonia, and it has caused the tularemia (which he almost died from last year) to flare up again. Hopefully he can get proper medication before he gets any sicker.
Gary Kunze (Beth Herring’s younger brother)—had Deep Brain Stimulation surgery to decrease the effects of Parkinson‘s Disease. The operation went well, with a special transmitter placed in his collar bone. Improvement is anticipated soon.
Anne Hamilton (Howard and Treva’s daughter-in-law in Seattle)—has been diagnosed with Primary Mediastinal Lymphoma. So far the tests have indicated the cancer is confined to a tumor in her chest. She has begun chemotherapy, which has a very good chance of eliminating the tumor. “Treva and I ask that you pray for her and our son Sterling. Pray for wisdom for her doctors and medical staff, and for the treatments to be effective and successful.”—Howard
Beth Herring—had knee replacement surgery. She is doing well and is in therapy, but still has pain.
Jim and Gigi Brannon—need your prayers as they deal with Jim’s health, which continues to decline with his Parkinson’s. Caring for Jim at home has become a lot more difficult now; he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s nine years ago. Please pray for him and for Gigi that she would have strength to continue to care for him at home.
Phil Brooks—has a hard time walking because of his knees. Please pray that he will not fall. He continues to take dialysis three times a week. Louise continues to have pain with her arthritis.
Anna Stone (Anoland Sullivan’s daughter)—has stage 4 brain cancer. Please pray that she can tolerate chemotherapy, and that it will be effective. Please also pray for God’s peace for each family member, including Bob and Anoland, her parents.
Jacque Fifer’s niece—is temporarily doing better in her battle with Gastro Paresis and mobility. She is 40 and everyone is hoping that, though there is no cure, she can live as quality a life as long as possible. “Thank you for all the prayers.” —Jacque

On January 11, 2010, a court in Faisalabad sentenced Imran Masih to life imprisonment and fined him 100,000 Pakistani Rupees (approx. $1,174 USD) after his Muslim neighbor, Hajji Liaquat, accused him of burning the Qur’an. ICC sources stated that on July 1, 2009, Masih was cleaning his shop in Faisalabad when he came across Arabic literature. Before trashing it, he asked his Muslim neighbor, Liaquat, whether the book was Islamic literature. Liaquat assured him that it was not an Islamic book. However, after Masih burned the book, Liaquat showed the half-burned book to passersby and accused Masih of desecrating the Qur’an. Later, the local mosques incited a mob to attack Masih. Masih hid at his house before the police arrived to arrest him. At the time of arrest, a mob of 400 had gathered outside Masih’s home. The family of Masih immediately fled from Faisalabad in fear for their lives. According to the family, Liaquat falsely accused Masih of desecrating the Qur’an because he wanted to rent the shop that Masih used to run his business.
