But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.

Acts 1:8 (ESV)

And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Matthew 28:18-20 (ESV)

We are commanded to go and make disciples among all the nations. We are called to proclaim and demonstrate the gospel in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the end of the earth.

Not only were we created for God’s glory, but we were created to declare and demonstrate God’s glory to all the nations. Our hearts cry out with the Psalmist, Sing to the Lord, bless his name; tell of His salvation from day to day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples! (Psalm 96:2-3) Just as God sent Christ, his only Son, into the world, Christ now sends us, his disciples, into the world as his witnesses for the glory of his name. God’s desire is for all nations to worship Him throughout eternity. Our passion in missions is more than obedience and action; it is more than serving and ministering. Our passion for missions is fueled by our passion for God’s glory and our vision to see the nations in ceaseless, adoring worship of God.

Therefore, by God’s grace, we seek to go to every tribe, tongue, and nation to reach them with the gospel of Jesus Christ, that they would find their lasting and most satisfying joy in Him alone! As John Piper states, “We simply aim to bring the nations into the white hot enjoyment of God’s glory.” Our hope is to be used of God to make for Himself worshippers in Fayetteville, Arkansas, the United States, Latin America, and the end of the earth.

Our Commitment to Fayetteville and Northwest Arkansas (NWA). The first mission field beyond the walls of our church is our local community, neighborhoods, and city, our Jerusalem. Here we seek to share and show the love of Christ.

Our commitment to Arkansas and the US calls us to reach beyond Jerusalem into the larger region – our state and nation. In many ways, our Judea looks very similar to Jerusalem, but is also somewhat more diverse.

Our Commitment to Latin America enables us to gain a new and exciting cross-cultural experience. The barriers to ministering in this part of the world are less challenging because of our close proximity, which makes travel relatively easy and less expensive; our established presence; and language is less of a barrier. People there are open and receptive to our presence.

Our Commitment to our Unreached People Group and the Unreached World especially the 10/40 window. These are the regions where many people have never heard about Jesus. This mission field includes people with various cultures, languages, religions and ethnic diversity.

We have challenged our church body to be on mission where they live, work, play and even eat. We designed a focussed initiative called Love the City: Eat Local where we adopted 12 local business establishments on Dickson St and the Downtown Square, and challenged our church to be intentional with the Gospel, both with those that work there and those who frequent there.

Second Mile Ministries strives to glorify God by leading people to treasure Christ as their greatest joy. We reach out to others by demonstrating love and concern, declaring the Gospel, and displaying compassion through practical assistance in living. We seek to encourage knowledge of Christ and spiritual growth, emotional maturity, and financial responsibility through one-on-one Gospel‐centered counseling sessions and corporate efforts to meet their physical and spiritual needs.

UBC wants to be a part of fulfilling James 1:27, both as individual members and as a collective Body. Even within the last few years, several families have been obedient to God’s call on their lives in adopting children both here in the United States and internationally, as well as being involved in foster care.

A collection of valuable resources that will help equip our church in PRAYING, SENDING & GOING from Jerusalem to the Ends of the Earth.
